  10. This is FTPMount which was developped by Evan Scott and later
  11. Thies Wellpott. As it is no more developped by them, I will try to
  12. make some small updates. Read FTPMount_upd.txt for more facts
  13. about the last version 1.2, the history and Thies Wellpott ;-)

  15. What is it?
  16. ===========
  17.  
  18. FTPMount is just a small handler and does (nearly) nothing when
  19. it is mounted as device 'FTP:'. But after that you can execute FTP
  20. commands very easy by standard system commands and tools!
  21.  
  22. FTP sites appear as subdirectories of a file system device 'FTP:'.
  23. The root directory of FTP: is actually a mirror of a real directory
  24. somewhere else in the file system.  This allows common FTP sites to
  25. be permanently listed under FTP: (so they appear in file requesters
  26. etc), and, through the use of icon tooltypes, to support ftp site
  27. aliases and other options.

  29. FTPMount supports both anonymous and private ftp sessions.  Mounted
  30. private ftp sessions can act as a poor-person's NFS mount.
